Fred was from Digby, Nova Scotia. He started painting at a young age . A painter of naive landscape, interior, figure and animal paintings in acrylic, he gets his imagery from past experiences. His pictures usually contain so much activity and he tends to have fun touches of day to day life captured in them including animals and look for the birds in the tree, a signature touch to his landscape works . He often painted Everette & Maud Lewis and their house, which was located close to where he was born.
