Skwirl Contemporary Fine Art Gallery, in collaboration with Lacerte art contemporain (Montreal) is pleased to present the works of photographer Laurent Guérin, born 1969 in Montreal. Guérin started his career as a fashion photographer but his artistic work quickly became evident during several group exhibitions. In 2006 he presented his first solo exhibition at Galerie Orange (Montréal) and participated in several collective exhibitions at the Mira Godard Gallery in Toronto and the Toronto International Art Fair. He exhibited at the Elliott Louis Gallery (Vancouver) as part of the Art for AIDS Orphans event, at the Harbourfront Centre (Toronto) as part of the Summit of the Americas and at the SAS Gallery (Montréal), an exhibition entitled “War and Peace”. Guérin was also invited by the organization World Press Photo to present a series of photographs taken in India, entitled “Les enfants de la gare” in the lobby of Maison de la Culture Frontenac (Montréal). In 2008, Cirque de Soleil’s head office in Montreal exhibited Guérin’s Japan series, ‘Nipponga’. In 2016 he was highlighted as one of the top artists to watch at the Toronto International Art Fair and featured in an article by Toronto Life. His photographs have been published internationally in several magazines such as Time (New York), Express (Paris), Vibe (Toronto) and Urb (Los Angeles). An accomplished globetrotter, Laurent has piloted a small plane since 1997, flying over Morocco, Panama, and Quebec. Laurent Guérin’s work is found in numerous private and corporate collections including Colart Collection (Montreal), T.D. Bank (Montreal), Emprise Bank (Kansas), Bennett Jones (Toronto), and MacTop & May Collection (London).
